Good Afternoon Families,
Teaching and Learning
At this stage of the term, as part of being Centred In Learning the students have been demonstrating their capabilities and growth through a variety of learning and assessment tasks. Our teachers are monitoring student growth, assessment data and engagement and are preparing Semester reports. Teachers also provide specific feedback about their learning and opportunities for growth.
You may have heard your child talk about WAGOLL. That stands for What A Good One Looks Like. The teachers have been providing exemplars of learning tasks, success criteria linked to the lesson’s learning intention and providing opportunities for the children to demonstrate their understandings.
There is an opportunity for you to make a meeting time in Week 9 of this term to discuss your child’s learning. More information regarding booking a meeting will occur closer to the date.
Wellbeing Week
Next week is Wellbeing week which is an opportunity for rest and family time. We do not set homework or have meetings during this week. We wish you a welcomed break from the usual routines which will come nicely after a long weekend.
I hope you enjoy you long weekend.

Our third STM community council meeting for 2024 was a productive meeting and I thank all members who were able to come and contribute, particularly those staff members who stayed on for the meeting despite a full work day followed by the school open evening. The discussion centred predominately around the following topics:
- progress made towards organising for a school canteen;
- the role of parent contacts within the school and how they can support and be supported by the council particularly in relation to the organising of schools events;
- annual improvement plan focusing on the role of high impact teaching practices;
- upcoming school events;
- carpark safety, particularly while the upgrades to the staff carpark are still underway.
With Luke Donnelly away on long service leave for Terms 2 and 3, there are some temporary changes to the council representatives. These changes are reflected below:
- Michael Kelly - Chair
- Stephanie Dickson - Secretary
- Leah Makin - Council Member
- Megan Hansford - Council Member
- Keren Baker - Kindergarten Council Member
- Fr. Anthony Riosa - Parish Priest
- Nicole Mikkonen - Acting Principal
- Skye McPadden - Acting Assistant Principal
- Reuben West - Staff Member
- Andrea McQuirk - Staff Member
We are highly approachable (hopefully!) and always welcome input from our community so please do get in touch with us if you have any concerns or ideas you would like us to raise, we always welcome feedback and input. Our lovely community thrives best when we’re all engaged and working as a team, bringing up issues as they arise and working out solutions together. If you can’t find one of us in person, you can get in contact with us at any stage via email stm.communitycouncil@cg.catholic.edu.au or better yet, join us at our next open meeting, scheduled for June 25th from 6:00pm- 7:30pm.
That’s all from me for now. I look forward to seeing you all soon at our next school event or meeting.
Cheers,
Keren Baker
