Dear Parents and Carers,
A message from ACT Policing
This is a reminder to help our children understand the importance of stranger safety and the need to report any unusual incidents or approaches to staff immediately. If you become aware of an incident or notice anyone acting suspiciously around a school or child, contact police immediately on 131 444. In the case of an emergency, call 000. If you witness an incident or if you have any information that could assist police, you can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Information can be provided anonymously. Please support us to keep our children safe by having conversations with your child about moving safely around the community and what to do if they ever feel unsafe. You may wish to visit the Australian Federal Police website that contains child safety information. In addition, Safety4Kids is a non-government website that has useful information and links. The Constable Kenny website also has a number of child safety tips for parents. Catholic Education will continue to work with ACT Policing on issues of child safety.

Painting works in Holy Faith Hall
The entrance/lobby area, kitchen and hall will be undergoing a painting refresh next week. There will be some disruptions to the Before and After School Care Program, but we have a plan in place. The drop off and pick up points will remain the same.
Outside of Hours Care Program
We have gone out to tender for our before, after and holiday care program. The successful provider will start on January 11, 2021. A review committee has been established and will evaluate the proposals towards the end of this term. I will inform you of the successful provider at the beginning of Term 4.
Principal's Affirmation

MS Readathon- Final Tally
What an incredible effort with the MS Readathon challenge this year. Our school has exceeded all expectations, including being one of the top fundraising schools in Australia. We were one of the few schools offered to participate in a virtual presentation by Stephen Papadopoulos, MS Readathon ambassador.
The students have been keenly interested in learning about MS and hearing about the daily challenges people who live with MS encounter each day. We are delighted that we have been able to raise a substantial amount of money to support not only people with MS, but the families and children of those with MS. To know that we can help put a smile on a child’s face is priceless. Thank you STM and a big CONGRATUALATIONS!!
Book Week – Curious Creatures, Wild Minds
Now that the MS Readathon challenge has come to an end, we are looking forward to our next adventure. Earlier this year, the Children’s Book Council of Australia moved Book Week celebrations to the 17-23 October. Due to current restrictions, we will endeavour to fill the week with lots of school-based events. Unfortunately, we cannot go ahead with ‘Snuggle Up and Read’ or welcome families to join us for the annual Book Week parade.
Within the current guidelines we will continue to hold the following events:
- Friday 16th October- Book Week Dress Up and Parade
- Friday 16th October- Storytime and Fun Activities organised by 5/6 leaders
- Monday 19th October- Cake Stall- Year 5/6 students have the opportunity to bake a cake with a book theme to bring to school for classes to purchase a piece of cake.
- Thursday 22nd October- Rug reading with a buddy classes in the sunshine with hot chocolates and marshmallows.
Fun times ahead!
