Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Carers,

I have thoroughly enjoyed having our students back this week but our community won’t be complete until we have all our Yr. 3, 4 and 5 students back. The students that have returned have been so excited to catch up with friends and to see their teachers face to face!

With the return of students to schools the risk of having a positive case in schools is greatly increased. We are doing everything we can to ensure our students and staff stay safe and to minimise any risk of infection in our community. In the case, however, that we are deemed a COVID site by ACT Health we will act swiftly. The school will contact all families to inform them immediately of the processes we will follow. You will be asked to collect your child and testing requirements will be communicated. Remote learning will operate. It is my understanding that if we are notified of a positive case in our school the first 2 days do not include an online option so as to promote and encourage community testing.

Yr. 5/6 Poetry

Yr. 5/6 have been learning about different forms of poetry, including, haikus, odes, ballads, and limericks. They have also been learning about how to use figurative language to create images in the reader’s head. Here are a few some of our students wrote during remote learning:

Soccer – Ava White

Ball against my boot,

Dribbling up the endless field,

Hearing the crowd roar.

Ballet – Ava White

Leaps across the sky,

Steps like kisses from fairies,

Feeling I could fly.

An ode about stars – Rhianna Skinn

Stars you twinkle in the sky, Shining like a guide towards the unknown,

I am drawn to your beauty as a butterfly to a cocoon.

You help me when lost, Always shining through the dark,

Showing your kindness to all around you, Stars you are a saviour.

Lost – Laura Jachowski

The world constantly spinning.

I am sitting still yet, I feel like I'm never winning.

But now I want to I walk outside to the rain.

The clouds turn dark, I grab and umbrella and walk to success again.

Flowers – Leah Shoebridge

As the sun glowed, a lonely seed fell, Slowly tumbling towards solid ground,

Coming to rest in a barren land, Where there was but a soul around.

For many months, the rain stayed abroad,

Until a wonderous summer's day, When droplets fell like autumn leaves,

And the seed's transformation was underway. Green shot through the cracked earth,

Like a single leaf on a bare tree, That single stem was powerful, A flare of hope for a dry country.

After many years, a flower blossomed,

Its petals slowly uncurling and its beauty blooming The flickering pink dancing in the wind,

The wonder of it was booming.

An ode – Lachlan Jaensch

Oh, music. You are as good as gold.

There's a reason the saying goes "music to my ears".

Filling me with feelings. My ears, so amused. Oh, how great you are! Oh, music.

Nothing can compare to you. A sound so great.

How creative! So many different kinds all of pure beauty! Oh, music.

The best thing in the world! Bringing joy. Bringing people together.

There is nothing better.

Yours Sincerely,
