Principal's Report
Dear Parents and Carers,
There is a long tradition of giving something up for Lent. In the Christian tradition, the forty day fast originated with Jesus' forty days and nights in the wilderness. Ever since, people have followed this in a variety of ways, giving up specific items (abstaining) or having meat-free days during Lent.
Giving something up is also a chance to make a positive difference.
Our school supports Project Compassion through Caritas Australia. In 1964, Caritas began in Australia. A Catholic Agency for International Aid and Development, Caritas is Latin for love + compassion – two qualities which are central to their work. This Lent join millions of Australians raising funds for the world’s most vulnerable people.
In 2020:
- 1 in 7 people still go hungry every day.
- 2 billion people don’t have access to clean drinking water.
- There are 11 million women and girls in forced labour.
Each class has a Project Compassion box for coin donations.
Community Breakfast
Thank you to the many parent helpers who helped last Friday morning; your help and assistance was very much appreciated. It was a great community event.
